Gregory B. Haroian, DMD, FAGD

Bio
Dr. Haroian has spent his entire life in the Greater Hartford community. Born and raised in Manchester, he graduated at the top of his class from Manchester High in 1974. He went on to earn his BS degree in Biology and Psychology at Trinity College in Hartford in 1978. His DMD degree in dentistry was earned at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine in 1983. He opened his first practice in 1987 in South Windsor and he opened his downtown practice, Capitol Dental, in 1998. He has been voted by his peers as one of the ‘Top Hartford Dentist’ since 2007. We are very proud of this accomplishment. He’s a huge musical theater fan, so don’t be surprised if Broadway show tunes are playing in the background at the office.
Dr. Gonzalo Romo DDS
Oral Surgeon
Bio
Dr. Romo completed his dental degree in Spain. During his fourth year of dental school, he received a European Union scholarship that allowed him to spend one year in Portugal at one of the leading dental schools in Europe. After working in the UK for a year, he was admitted to New York University College of Dentistry, where he completed a clinical fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with a strong focus on implant surgery and bone grafting.
He later practiced as a general dentist in Connecticut and Florida, but his passion for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery led him to pursue further training. After being accepted into a one-year internship at the University of Maryland Medical Center, he was granted the opportunity to complete the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program there. He graduated in 2021.
Dr. Romo has a strong interest in new implant surgery technologies, including full-arch rehabilitation, bone grafting, dentoalveolar surgery, anesthesia, and oral pathology.
Outside of dentistry, he is an avid soccer fan. As a child, he played in the youth league for one of the major soccer teams in Spain between the ages of 10 and 12. He also enjoys traveling the world with his wife.
Willendy Alcenat DMD
Bio
Dr. Willendy Alcenat is a general dentist committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and completed advanced post-graduate training through a General Practice Residency. Dr. Alcenat focuses on comprehensive dentistry with an emphasis on comfort, precision, and long-term oral health.
Our Hygienists
Our Hygienists are fantastic! They are very proficient in “cleaning” your teeth and so much more. They are very knowledgeable about all aspects of “gum” disease and how it relates to total body health. They will recommend, along with the Dentist, your best treatment options regarding the care of your teeth and gums.

Susan
Susan has been a dedicated dental hygienist since 1989. She takes pride in educating her patients,
helping them overcome their fear of the dentist, and supporting them in achieving their dental
health goals. In her free time, Susan enjoys cooking, baking, and getting lost in a good book.
Gillian
Gillian received her Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of New Haven in 2010. She loves educating patients on the importance of good oral hygiene and its connection to overall health. She strives to make patients comfortable and the dental office a friendly place. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, their kitties, and family and friends.
Tyisha
Tyisha earned her dental hygiene degree from Tunxis Community College in 2020, and since then, she has been passionate about helping patients achieve and maintain excellent oral health. Her favorite aspect of being a hygienist is providing detailed education on proper oral care techniques and witnessing the positive changes in her patients’ dental hygiene over time. Tyisha believes that empowering patients with knowledge not only improves their health but also boosts their confidence.
Outside of her professional life, Tyisha enjoys a variety of activities that bring her joy and relaxation. She loves spending quality time with family and friends, whether sharing meals, enjoying a fun outing, or simply catching up. Reading is another one of her passions, as it allows her to unwind and explore new perspectives. Traveling allows her to experience new places and cultures. Additionally, Tyisha stays active through rollerblading, a hobby that brings both fun and fitness into her life.
Our Dental Assistants
Our Assistants are well trained and excellent care givers. They will make your treatment as comfortable as possible. Feel free to ask them any questions regarding your treatment whether it be concerns prior to starting or questions about post-operative care.
Jennifer
Jennifer is a highly experienced and dedicated dental assistant with over 25 years in the field.
She holds certifications in radiology, Infection Control (ICE), E4D technology, and CPR.
Throughout her career, she has gained extensive experience across a range of specialties,
including endodontics, oral surgery, and periodontics. Jennifer is passionate about dentistry and
is committed to delivering compassionate, educational, and comfortable care to every patient she
serves.
Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys cooking, gardening, and getting lost in a good book.
Laura
Laura brings over 10 years of experience as a dental and surgical assistant, combining clinical
skill with a warm, calming presence that helps patients feel comfortable and at ease. Known for
her gentle approach, she believes dental care should be supportive—not stressful.
A lifelong Connecticut resident, Laura enjoys spending her free time outdoors and expressing her
creativity. Whether she’s hiking, gardening, painting, or reading, she values activities that
promote both wellness and balance. She also loves live music and finds it a perfect way to
unwind.
Laura is a proud mom to her son, Dominic, a high school sophomore who keeps her on her toes.
At home, she’s also joined by Lucy, her Chihuahua, and two playful cats, Feta and Fefe—who
definitely run the household.
Compassionate, grounded, and dedicated, Laura believes caring for patients is both a science and
an art.
Our Administration Team
They will go out of their way to welcome you to our practice. They are very knowledgeable regarding Treatment Options and optimizing insurance benefits. They are happy to answer any questions or concerns regarding your treatment or account.
Christopher
Chris has been working at Capitol Dental for the last 3years as our Marketing and Operations Administrator. He is responsible for marketing and advertising, overseeing operations, and acts as the liaison between Admin Staff, Clinical Staff, and Dr. Haroian. When not at the office, he likes to spend time outdoors with friends and family, and at home with his husband and their two adorable beagle-bassets, Beau and Addison!
Deanna
Deanna is our Office Manager has been with Capitol Dental Associates since 1999. She earned her bachelors degree (BA) in Developmental Psychology from Emmanuel College in Boston. She grew up in the south end of Hartford and enjoys staying connected to the city by working downtown. Deanna enjoys listening to music, traveling and spending time with her husband and 2 children. If you need help understanding your dental insurance coverage she’s happy to get you the answers you need.
Diane
Diane started working in the dental field in 1987 and has been working with Dr. Haroian for 20 years and at Capitol Dental since 2011. Diane has a vast knowledge of the dental field and enjoys helping patients with any of their scheduling, insurance, or financial needs. You can always count on Diane. At home she loves being with her family, cooking, and being outdoors.
Diana
Diana’s experience in the dental field goes back to 2000 when she started in the orthodontic field as a dental assistant. Throughout the years she also gained experience in periodontal, endodontic, and pediatric dentistry. She slowly transitioned from clinical staff to front desk staff and is excited to be able to use both clinical and front desk skills to help patients understand and utilize their insurance benefits and understand dental treatment. When she’s not in the dental office you can find her hanging with her three beautiful children and doing all outdoor activities and taking lots of road trips.
